About

What is Bikram Yoga?

Bikram Yoga is practised in a heated room (typically 40°C with 40% humidity). It consists of a fixed sequence of 26 postures (asanas) and 2 breathing exercises, each performed twice during a 90-minute class.

Developed by Bikram Choudhury in the 1970s, this method is designed to work every part of the body — muscles, joints, ligaments, and internal organs — through a systematic approach that builds strength, flexibility, balance, and mental focus.

The Bikram Yoga Sequence

The class follows the same 26-posture sequence, every time, allowing students to track their progress and deepen their practice. The sequence includes standing postures, balancing poses, backbends, forward bends, and twists. The heated environment warms the body, increases flexibility, promotes detoxification through sweat, and helps prevent injury.
